The China International Contractors Association announced that the growth rate of the industry is expected to reach 10% this year but not quite as rapid as it was in 2009.

Over recent years, the international project contracting industry of China has sustained a rapid growth. The international project contracting industry of China realized sales revenue of USD 92.2 billion last year, an increase of 18% from the preceding year. USD 134.4 billion of contracts were newly signed, an increase of 6% from the preceding year.

Markets in the emerging economies remain prosperous. Financial conditions of resource-reliant countries continue to improve with the recovery of oil prices. Investments in infrastructure keep rising. Global economy is recovering from the crisis. Investments in production and service sectors increase and private investment starts to become active. These positive factors favor the international project contracting industry of China. However “Risk” and “Risk Control” will become the keywords for the industry in 2011. Chinese contractors will be challenged by the risks of regional politics, exchange rates and prices. Therefore, taking all factors into consideration, the growth rate of the international project contracting business will not be lower than that in last year and may still reach 10%. However, the industry is unlikely going to reach the rapid growth of 20 % to 30% in 2009.
